Pumpkin Dash

This morning we participated in the Tenino School District's Pumpkin Dash 5k event.  We walked it in under an hour-pretty good for me because I am a really slow walker.  Scott held my hand the whole way, pulling me along so that we wouldn't finish dead last.

Scott & Gabby just after we arrived.  We lucked out that it wasn't raining, but the fog was pretty thick.  This is the elementary school where you register.

Giving a big thumbs up because they're so excited to walk!
Scott & Corey decided to take a little nap while waiting for the event to start.

The sun trying to come out, but the fog was too thick.

The fog made this picture look like it was taken in black & white.

You can see the blue sky trying to come through.  Scott is dragging me along....

Pretty tree and an old stone wall.

We did it!

School Spirit

Who has school spirit?  Corey, of course!  She wore this awesome outfit to school on Friday.  She said the outfit would have been better with a cape.   We will have to keep an eye out for one.  Go Wolves!

Random Pics from Today

Ah, Sunday, a lazy kind of day.  Just wanted to post some random pics of our ultra-exciting life.

Corey in the cool WSU Cougars hat that Jerry & Brenda got her for her birthday.  You can see the trees are starting to turn.

I still have a few roses blooming...they refuse to give up after such a short summer season!

My fuchsia is blooming, too.

Gabby with Ghosty and Frankie.  She helped me put up some Halloween decorations today.

These ones have no names...kind of sad.

Evergreen State College YRE

Today Clarissa & I walked at the Evergreen State College for another YRE credit.  I've never explored the college even though it is really close to where we live.  We walked through the campus and surrounding woods.  It was pretty, but quite long and hilly.  I'm glad I decided not to take Winston with me because it was really muddy at parts.  Afterwards we had lunch at my new favorite restaurant-Chipotle-followed by some shopping at REI.  It was a great morning!

Me at the starting point.

Clarissa next to the Salmon Pole Monument by Ross Matteson, class of 1980.  The plaque read:  In the sculpture, the central salmon figure is surrounded by the intertwining orca, osprey, bear, sea lion and man-all of whom use the salmon for food.

Front of the sculpture.

I just liked this sign. although I don't know what it says.

The woods that we walked through.  They looked more ominous in real life.

We crossed one bridge.  It wasn't big, but had a pretty little creek running under it.

We saw lots of slugs & mushrooms.

Eld Inlet.  The clouds were stubborn and would not go away, so to the water looks gray, but up close it was very clear.

Coming into the main square on campus.

Tumwater Marching Band Competition 2011

We spent almost all day yesterday at the Tumwater Marching Band Competition watching some awesome marching bands & their color guards.  BHHS did a great job and came in 2nd in the Open category.  There were some very creative theme performances including The Wizard of Oz, The Lion King and Tron.  One band even played songs from Led Zeppelin.  Corey had such a great time & we really enjoyed watching her!

And there's the Color Guard coming onto the field.  There is Corey in the very middle.

Setting up their flags.  They had 3 different flags. Corey is 2nd from the right.

This band is from Wenatchee.  They were really good & won several awards.

The Kamiak High School band.   The people behind us told us the band practices 20 hours per week. That's a huge commitment, but you could tell that they put in a lot of hours because they were really good & won several awards.

I somehow managed to get a picture of Corey going by (towards the left side of the picture).  I had to hold my camera above my head because the people in front of us were standing up.

There is BHHS filing in to their spot.

I found this photo on Corey's Facebook.  Great team photo!  She's in the middle row on the far right.

A Chorus Line

Scott and I bought a season pass to the 5th Avenue Theater for the 2026-2027 season, which will consist of 5 shows.  Our first show was A Ch...
