Sand in the City

One of Corey's favorite places to volunteer is the Hands on Children's Museum.  Every year they put on the Sand in the City event as their major fundraiser.  Corey has volunteered at Sand in the City a couple of years now. Today she was in charge of the bubble hut.  The weather was perfect...warm, but not too warm, and breezy..great for bubble making!  Gabby and I went down to check out some of the sand sculptures & make some bubbles of our own.

In case you don't know...this is Angry Birds.

The 3 little pigs & the big bad wolf.

The words say...Get your bearings.  Too cute :)

The new Hands On Children's Museum.  They are in the process of moving in and it should be open soon.

There's our volunteer!

She is so good with the little kids.

Wigs for Kids

Corey has been growing her hair out for a while, and this morning we finally went to get it cut so she could donate it to the Wigs for Kids organization.  They provide free wigs for kids who have lost their hair due to cancer therapy or other medical conditions.  She looks cute with her new short hair, but it will be a while before she can put it up into her signature pigtails.

Auburn Volksmarch (#7)

This morning we traveled to Auburn to complete our 7th volksmarch of the year.  This is one we haven't done before.  After a week of really hot temperatures, the weather decided to give us a break.  We had cloud cover and cool temps which was good because they tricked us into walking 6k instead of just the 5k route advertised.  Those Volksmarchers! You gotta keep an eye on them!

Two big thumbs up!  You know volksmarching is Gabby's favorite thing to do :)

Photobomb!

In this picture we're trying to figure out where to stand...

This was the view Jen & I had the whole volksmarch.  They are fast walkers and we are stragglers...

It looks like they are torturing her.  In actuality, Gabby is trying to give Corey a kiss. Must be hard to be so loved!

See? Gabby is so happy to be volksmarching!

That girl can catch some air.

More unwanted kisses...

Group photo: Jen, Gabby, Scott, Corey & Susan.  Can you tell Jen didn't want to be in the picture?

Afterwards we had lunch at the Pick Quick.  The food was yummy and it had a really fun atmosphere.

We had to have dessert, too!

Wolf Haven

This morning Gabby & I went to Wolf Haven and took their one hour interactive tour.  The place was a bit smaller than I expected, but we did get to see many of their wolves.  They do a great job of caring for these wolves who were either abandoned or abused.   We learned a lot, and I'm glad we finally made it out there!  Definitely worth a trip considering it is so close to where we live.

Shadow has the dark fur and is a Gray Wolf.  The light colored one is Juno who is a hybrid-half wolf, half dog.

Family Pictures 2012

We recently had our family photos taken by Kristina at Poppi Photography.  She is such a great photographer that she was able to make even us look fabulous :)  Some things I want to remember from that night...

1. It was Monday night, July 30th.  We weren't sure how the pictures would turn out because the sky was so cloudy, but it actually turned out to be great lighting.
2. We took these photos at Chambers Bay Golf Course, which is one of our favorite spots to walk.
3. We were all tired from staying up late all weekend watching the Olympics.
4. We decided not to bring Winston to the photo shoot, but ended up seeing 3 Corgis.
5. I am not wearing glasses because I have transition lenses and they were too dark.  I could hardly see when she was taking the photos and hoped that my eyes wouldn't look too unfocused.
6. I was petrified the whole time we were taking photos in the wheat-like grass that a snake would slither by.
7.  I can't wait to do this again...it was such a blast!

Here are some of my favorite photos:

A Chorus Line

Scott and I bought a season pass to the 5th Avenue Theater for the 2026-2027 season, which will consist of 5 shows.  Our first show was A Ch...
