Welcome Harvey!

The day finally arrived!  On Friday we made the long trek over to Moses Lake and picked up Harvey!  It was a bit of a deja vu as we made the same trip to get Rosie just 6 short months ago.  Harvey is definitely a fun new addition to our family.  He's quite a bit bigger than Rosie was at that age and it only took him two days to make it all the way up our stairs! He also promptly dug a hole in our back yard.  We have to keep a close eye on him!  Rosie wasn't so sure of him at first, but she is adjusting fine.  She does think he is a toy, though, and won't leave him alone; there is a lot of wrestling and biting going on.  We usually have to pull her back when he's had enough and she just won't stop.  She is very patient with him at times when he wants what she has and has learned to share very well.  I think overall it's been a good change and they will become best friends before long.

I love how Rosie is sticking her tongue out like, this is what I think of this!

She looks soooo annoyed. Haha.

Harvey's first stroll around the block.  He can't get out until he is fully vaccinated.

Hike at Kanaskat-Palmer State Park

Gabby came down unexpectedly Saturday evening after work which was great.  We always love when she comes to spend some time with us!  Today we took her hiking at Kanaskat-Palmer State Park since it's fairly close by and she wanted to check another state park off her list.  This is a great 3 mile loop hike with views of the Green River.  The trail was in great shape with the recent dry weather and we didn't encounter any mud.  Rosie was off leash for about 90% of the time which she loved.  She is such a great little hiking dog...we hope that Harvey will be the same. Can't believe we're going to pick him up in just 5 more days! We stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home for ice cream...such a great treat on a hot day!

She didn't have to stretch too much for this one!

More trillium.

One tired pup on the way home.

Duvall Volksmarch #3

On Saturday morning we completed our 3rd volksmarch in Duvall with Jennifer & Clarissa.  The 5k loop took us through town and to a couple of parks.  Duvall is so cute & we really enjoyed the area.  Afterwards we had lunch at Grateful Bread which was really yummy.  Still no photo with the volksmarch flag, though, as the club left before we finished our walk.  I hope this is not going to become a permanent thing!

We all thought this sign was funny.

Hike at Mud Mountain

We had an unusually hot weekend for this time of year with sun and temps in the high 70's and low 80's.  Since we all know this kind of weather never sticks around too long, I decided to take some time off on Friday and hike with Corey since it was her day off.  She and I headed to nearby Mud Mountain to hike the Rim Trail.  Although I've been there a few times, she had not so it was fun to show her the area.  We hiked about 2 miles and she saw a snake, which I luckily did NOT see.  Rosie had a great time.  There weren't very many folks there so she went off leash for a while.  The only drawback of the hike were the sticky things that fell from the trees and were scattered all over the ground.  They kept sticking to Rosie's paws and we kept having to stop and pull them off.  When we got home she got a bath to try to rid her of some of the stickiness.  She must have really hated the sticky feeling because she didn't fight bath time at all.  I'll be happy once the trees stop shedding them!

The trillium are starting to bloom.

Schmitz Preserve Park and Alki Beach

We met up with Gabby this morning in West Seattle for a short hike at Schmitz Preserve Park. This small park right in the middle of the city was donated by Ferdinand Schmitz at the beginning of the 1900’s.  Although small,  it really was beautiful with lots of old growth trees.  We wandered around the various trails and saw lots of skunk weed, bridges, and mushrooms. Afterwards we drove to Alki and had a yummy lunch at Marination Ma Kai before checking out the beach and cute little houses in the surrounding streets. On the way home we stopped by Titlow Park in Tacoma to meet up with Corey and Terrell and give them their Easter baskets.  We walked around the park and saw a snake!  Rosie walked right over it without even noticing so my hopes of a guard dog against snakes is not coming to fruition.
