Boeing Museum of Flight
Today we went up to the Boeing Museum of Flight. Now we can strike that off of our list of things to do in 2009! Hurrah! The weather was just perfert (cool & sunny) so we were able to spend a lot of time viewing the outside exhibits. There were some really amazing planes to see, inside & outside the museum. Scott loved the World War II area which had a lot of different fighter planes. He could have spent the whole time in there! Everyone really enjoyed walking around the Air Force One that had been used for Presidents Eisenhower, Johnson & Kennedy. It was fun to see what was considered "high tech" back then. It even included a "doggie door" to the Presidential bathroom. The girls got to ride in the flight simulator which they were able to control. Although I'm not sure that was a great idea as they couldn't figure out how to do it and spent a lot of time upside down. We had to go to the cafe afterwards and get Corey a Sprite to drink because she was feeling dizzy. Afterwards we had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in Southcenter. It was sooooooo yummy. The girls ordered the Chocolate Tower Truffle Cake which looked so chocolaty my teeth hurt! Scott, Sherry & I split the Craig's Crazy Carrot Cake Cheesecake. It had two of my favorite things-cheesecake and carrot cake. What's not to like? It took the 3 of us to finish it. After dinner we drove Sherry to the airport so she could catch her flight back to Spokane. Thanks for coming to visit us...we had a great time!

The birthday girl!
Today is Gabby's birthday. Yeah! As a special treat I brought her Chinese food from Panda Express (where else?) for lunch at school. She was very excited! After lunch I headed out to see what it is that 4th grade girls do at recess time. Well, I must say, it's not all that exciting! Mostly they stand around and chat. They also dance and chase boys and knock them over. It's kind of like "cow tipping". After recess Gabby and McKell handed out the chocolate cupcakes that she and I baked last night for a classroom treat. Everyone agreed they were very yummy! Happy Birthday kiddo!

Early Birthday Gift
Today Gabby had a dentist appointment-great early birthday gift, huh? When we came home we found a BETTER gift-a lovely tower of sweet treats from Aunt Patty. Thank you! It was filled with truffles, almond roca, chocolate covered pretzels, shortbread cookies and popcorn clusters.....yum! I think the rest of us will have to "help" her eat it all so she doesn't get any cavities!

Jokes of the Week
Another Tuesday. When will winter end??? We got another inch of snow this morning. Luckily it's been melted by the rain. But the cold is sticking around. Hope everyone in the South are keeping safe in all that ice they've been getting. Here are some jokes that hopefully will bring a little smile to your face or at least a little grin. Sorry, Rozanne, I couldn't find any brunette jokes, so you'll just have to change the words "blonde" to "brunette" when you read the jokes!
The blonde saw a sign that said YMCA and she said: "Look they spelt MACY's wrong!!!"
A man goes to see his psychiatrist. He says, "Doctor, I've been having suicidal tendencies. What should I do?" The psychiatrist replies, "Pay your bill today."
A blonde was bragging about her knowledge of the state capitals of the United States. She proudly announced, "Go ahead, ask me any of the capitals, I know all of them."A red head said, "O.K., what's the capital of Wyoming?" The blonde replied, "Oh, that's easy, 'W'."
4 men were on the golf course. As a funeral procession passed by, one of the golfers took off his hat and put his hand over his heart. "Wow," said another golfer. "I think that's the nicest thing I've ever seen you do." "Well," said the first golfer, "I was married to her for 35 years. It was the least I could do."

Dance Recital
The girls had a dance recital today. Everyone did a great job. The girls danced twice. The first was a slower, ballet-style dance to "I Feel Pretty" and the second was a faster, jazzier dance to "Pocket Full of Sunshine". There were so many people at the recital that we didn't get very good seats. So I spent my time on the sidelines taking pictures. Unfortunately for me the girls were placed on the OTHER side of the room. That's pretty much par for the course as far as my luck goes! But I still managed to get a couple of good pictures.
Happy Chinese New Year!

The Chinese New Year starts this year on Monday, January 26th. This will be the year of the Ox. 2009 is the Year of Ji Chou and is the 4706th in the Chinese Calendar. This is predicted to be a year where domestic affairs need to be settled and people must put their houses in order. We will have to work hard for our profits and to-do-lists will be long. It is time to apply ourselves diligently. I think considering our economic times these predictions are pretty accurate. As the Chinese say, Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Gabby's 10th Birthday Party
Even though Gabby's birthday is not for 6 more days, we held her birthday party tonight. It was the only time we could get everyone together. There's just too many things going on in January! We went to see "Hotel for Dogs" which was really good. Everyone liked it a lot. Then we headed to Dairy Queen for treats and opened presents. Gabby got lots of cool stuff...her friends know her too well. She was very excited about the bottle of ketchup. Thanks Ally! I'm sure she'll put it to good use! She also got Cougar slippers, earrings, a stuffed elephant, some airheads and two Webkinz to add to her collection. Thanks to Savannah, Ally, McKell, Emma and Paige for coming along to make this a great birthday!

Jokes of the Week
I hope everyone had a good 3 day weekend. Ours was really restful. I slept in all 3 days...ah, bliss! Unfortunately we had to head back to work today. How could so much work pile up in just 3 days??? Here are some jokes to help us all get by......
A young blonde was on vacation in the depths of Louisiana. She wanted a pair of genuine alligator shoes in the worst way, but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking. After becoming very frustrated with the "no haggle" attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the blonde shouted, "Maybe I'll just go out and catch my own alligator so I can get a pair of shoes at a reasonable price!" The shopkeeper said, "By all means, be my guest. Maybe you'll luck out and catch yourself a big one!" Determined, the blonde turned and headed for the swamps, set on catching herself an alligator. Later in the day, the shopkeeper is driving home, when he spots the young woman standing waist deep in the water, shotgun in hand. Just then, he sees a huge 9 foot alligator swimming quickly toward her. She takes aim, kills the creature and with a great deal of effort hauls it on to the swamp bank. Laying nearby were several more of the dead creatures. The shopkeeper watches in amazement. Just then the blonde flips the alligator on it's back, and frustrated, shouts out, - "Darn it, this one isn't wearing any shoes either!!!"
An expectant mother was being rushed to the hospital, but didn't quite make it. She gave birth to her baby on the hospital lawn.
Later, the father received a bill, listing "Delivery Room Fee: $500."
He wrote the hospital and reminded them the baby was born on the front lawn. A week passed, and a corrected bill arrived: "Greens Fee: $200."

And finally, in honor of our new President being sworn in today:
A little boy wanted $100.00 very badly and prayed for weeks, but nothing happened. Then he decided to write God a letter requesting the $100.00.
When the postal authorities received the letter to God, USA, they decided to send it to the President. The president was so amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $5.00 bill. The president thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.
The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 bill and sat down to write a thank-you note to God, which read:
Dear God: Thank you very much for sending the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you sent it through Washington, D.C., and, as usual, those turkeys deducted $95.00 in taxes.
