Corey Update

It's been a busy semester for Corey, but somehow when she's not doing homework, that girl always seems to be doing something fun!  This past weekend she went with the Wildlife Society to feed elk in the Oak Creek Wildlife Area near Naches.  They feed elk in the winter to help reduce conflict between elk and neighboring agricultural land.   She had a great time and, luckily, didn't have to camp out in the cold; a WSU alumni let them stay at their house in Yakima.  Go Cougs!

Those are some big rides!

Corey & Terrell just celebrated their two year anniversary!

Corey has also been helping her friend Garrett with his campaign for ASWSU Vice President.

Browns Point Lighthouse

After hiking we decided to drive down to Browns Point in Tacoma to check out a lighthouse I had found on the Internet.  We aren't going to count this towards our Adventure List because we didn't get to tour it (tours are only on Saturdays from May-October).   We walked around the grounds & checked out all the informational signage.  It was neat to learn about its history.

The lighthouse keeper's cottage, which you can now rent.

Not the best looking lighthouse I've ever seen, but still neat.

Dash Point State Park Hike (#3)

This morning Scott & I went up to Federal Way to the Pac-12 Swimming & Diving Championship.  So fun to sit with other Cougars and cheer on the WSU women's swim team.  They did an awesome job!  Afterward, we grabbed a quick lunch then headed to Dash Point State Park to hike.  It is a beautiful park with over 11 miles of trails and beach access.  There were lots of people on the trail even though it was cold out.  I can't imagine how crowded it gets in the summertime.  I'm glad we got to check it out & enjoy some time outside before the rain sets in again.  Can't wait until spring!

Photobombed!

Little stream heading to the Sound.

It was really cold on the beach! I had to put my hood on because my ears were frozen.

There were lots of cool bridges on the trail.

We started out on this trail but then connected with several others.

Weekend in Spokane

This weekend Scott & I drove over to Spokane to visit with the family.  Luckily, Corey & Terrell were able to come up from Pullman, too.  We had hoped to go snowshoeing, but the weather did not want to cooperate with us!  We found some other activities to keep us busy including going to a lovely tea at the Brambleberry Cottage, playing dominoes (Corey won!), shopping, and having dinner at Scott's sister's house.  I think we all definitely ate way too much this weekend!  It was a great visit!

It was a large group and most of them had never been to a tea before, but somehow I don't think it will be their last. So fun!  Front row L-R: Jamie w/Gianna, Kayla w/Keira, Kym. Back row L-R: Scott, Susan, Corey, Terrell & Sherry
Of course I had to take a windmill picture....

The Music Man

The Black Hills High School theater put on a production of The Music Man over the past two weekends.  Gabby helped choreograph some of the dances & also performed in all the shows.  As always, she did a fabulous job.  You can tell that performing is in her blood.  She just looks so happy on stage!

The choreographers.

After the show we took her out to dinner.  Here she is with Scott taking selfies.

A Chorus Line

Scott and I bought a season pass to the 5th Avenue Theater for the 2026-2027 season, which will consist of 5 shows.  Our first show was A Ch...
