Easter

The kids came down for Easter which was a lot of fun. They all dyed eggs then they ran around the house looking for clues to where the Easter Bunny had hidden their baskets full of goodies.  After a yummy lunch we played a few games before everyone had to leave.  It was great to see everyone!

We did tye dye eggs this year and they turned out pretty good!

Laurelhurst Volksmarch #3

Today we returned to Seattle for our third volksmarch of the year in the Laurelhurst area. We did this walk last year with Clarissa and Rosie.  This year Gabby and Jennifer came along and we completed the 6k route.  It’s fairly flat except the beginning and end. We saw lots of spring blooms again. The route was very similar to last year’s walk except for one loop on raised boardwalks.  We couldn’t get a flag photo at the end as they left before we finished so we drowned our sorrows with yummy chicken and boba at U Village instead.

University of Washington Stair Walk

After a gorgeous day on Thursday it quickly turned back to rain and cold.  We were supposed to go hiking this morning in Issaquah, but the weather app kept saying it was going to rain. So, we decided to head to Seattle instead & do a stair walk since it said it would be dry in Seattle until 11 o'clock.  Luckily it was dry until almost 1 o'clock which made it so much more enjoyable.  The walk took us 2.6 miles around UW campus and into the U district that borders it where we paused to eat a yummy breakfast at Cafe on the Ave.  The walk had 273 steps down and 325 steps up; luckily they were not all at once.  Afterwards we stopped at University Village to do a little shopping & get yummy boba before dropping Gabby off at a friend's place.  Even though we did have to be on enemy territory, I'm glad we got to go complete a stair walk and spend time with our girl!

Blooming crab apple tree.

We were surprised to see some rhodies blooming already!

Stairs to literally nowhere!

I thought it was a cool mural; they covered up the UW part.

Scott had a yummy omelette.

I had a breakfast skillet. Gabby got a breakfast sandwich, but it came so late that she bit into it right away when it arrived, so no picture!

The prime bloom of the cherry trees was over, but there were still a few pretty blooms.

Sequalitchew Creek Trail

Since it was forecast to be 70 degrees and sunny today, Teresa and I decided to ditch work and go hiking in DuPont instead. Luckily, Lisa was also off work so she joined us for our 3 mile hike at Sequalitchew Creek trail. It’s a down and up trail that’s got a little bit of elevation gain.  Lots of people were out enjoying the weather. We did encounter some muddy areas but nothing too bad. A much better way to spend the day than staring at a computer screen. I need more days like this!

Teresa brought Logan and Aspen along.

The dogs liked fetching sticks in the water.

Stairway Walk #1 Ravenna

For Christmas Scott & I bought Gabby & Ethan the Seattle Stairway Walks book; mostly because we know Gabby hates stairs and we wanted to annoy her.  The book describes 25 stairway walks around Seattle and yesterday they completed their first one in the Ravenna area. They walked through some neighborhoods with student housing for UW before winding through Ravenna Park. The park was quite popular and had lots of cool foot bridges over the Ravenna Ravine.  They heard lots of birds on the way. Afterwards they had a yummy lunch at University Village.  This walk was 1.6 miles with 118 steps down and 264 steps up.  Only 24 more to go!  We hope to make it up to Seattle and do a couple with them this summer.

Auburn Volksmarch #2

A lovely but chilly morning for a volksmarch today in the Lakeland Hills area of Auburn. Scott and I had looked for houses here back in 2018 before moving to Bonney Lake. It’s a nice area with lots of parks. Jen and Clarissa joined us on the 5k route.  We saw lots of spring blooms and were excited to get a photo with the volksmarch flag at the finish.  We had lunch at Taco Time afterwards to celebrate another successful volksmarch.

A Chorus Line

Scott and I bought a season pass to the 5th Avenue Theater for the 2026-2027 season, which will consist of 5 shows.  Our first show was A Ch...
