High Tea at the Secret Garden Tea Room

I enjoyed a lovely high tea today at the Secret Garden Tea Room in Sumner with friends.  The tea service was wonderful and the food was delicious, especially the lighter than air scones with Devonshire cream.  I'm still thinking about it!  The tea room is located in the Herbert Williams house, which was built in 1890 for his wife, Lola.  It was a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  I can't wait for our next tea party!

Tacoma Volksmarch (#5)

We completed another 5k volksmarch today in Tacoma. We started at the Asia Pacific Cultural Center and walked along the Water Flume Line Trail with a short jaunt into the Tacoma Cemetery.   The weather forecast was a little iffy, but we only got rained on a couple of times for a few minutes along with a few sunbreaks, too.  Afterwards, we had a yummy lunch at Patty's Burgers to round out a fun day.

Several blooming rhodys near the cemetery.

Pretty dogwood.

Patty's Burgers had fun 50's décor.

Yoh! Hike in Cle Elum

This morning Teresa, Stacey & I hiked 6 miles along the Iron Horse Trail in Cle Elum.  The weather was gorgeous!  The wildflowers were supposed to be out, but all we saw was Skunk Weed and one white Trillium that was partially hidden.  Luckily, the trestle bridge & Yakima River were cool and made up for it.  We also had ice cream after the hike at Stella's, so it was a good day!

Stacey at the trailhead.  The trail used to be an old rail that crosses Snoqualmie Pass.

Woodland Volksmarch (#4)

Today Scott & I completed another 5k volksmarch in Woodland. The route took us by the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens, which I have always wanted to see.  Today is opening day and many of the lilacs are already blooming.  We didn't know there were so many different varieties of lilacs.  The gardens were beautiful & we also got to tour the original house.  The volksmarch also took us around Horseshoe Lake and along the Lewis River.  It was a pleasant walk in the sun!

Lots of beautiful wisteria.

Rhododendrons, too!

And Magnolias.
