Photo of the Day

Here is Gabby's 3rd grade class photo. She is in the middle row on the far left with the polka dotted shirt. I forgot how short she used to wear her hair. I also spy McKell who is 2nd from the right in the same row. I forgot they were in the same class.

Here is a picture of Corey & her goofy friends at a recent birthday party for their friend Emily. Corey is wearing the Jelly Belly shirt we got on our trip to San Francisco. I like when her friends post pics of her on Facebook then I can see what she's up to AND I get to post them on the blog :)

This picture of Corey, Gabby & Yu Chen was taken 1/10/07 on one of those rare snow days here in Western WA. I don't know why the kids are in Winston's cage instead of Winston :)

This photo of Corey with my 'Classy Carol' rose was taken 6/14/07. She looks so little! I only had that rose for a couple of years before it died over the harsh winter, but it was one of my favorites.

MTS Spelling Bee

We're so proud of Gabby who came in 2nd place today at her school spelling bee. Fourteen 5th and 6th graders participated in this year's bee. Yay Gabby!

Here is a close up of Barry the Bumblebee. The funny thing is Gabby told me that she wasn't that excited about the spelling bee and just wanted to make sure she did not get eliminated first. However, when she saw these cute bobble head trophies that would only go to the top 3 contestants, she changed her mind and decided to go for it. Well, he is pretty cute!

Here is Corey about to get picked up for her first day of kindergarten in Victorville, CA. She didn't want us to drive her, but at least we got to take her to the bus.

Bellevue Volksmarch #7

We participated in our 7th Volksmarch of 2010 today in Bellevue. It's been a while since we've done one. The Volksmarch in Amity, OR in April left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths, and we've been a bit reluctant to get back into Volksmarching. But the one in Bellevue today was a lot of fun, so I'm glad that we went. We walked through some really nice neighborhoods into downtown Bellevue and back. May is Rhody month in Washington, and we saw several sporting pretty blooms. In all we completed 6k. Afterwards we had a great lunch at Red Robin at Bellevue Square followed by some window shopping. Though we didn't buy anything, I did get the chance to check out the new iPad at the Apple store which was really cool. I have already put it on my birthday list :)

The girls really liked this sculpture.

This was taken at Goddard Park which was tucked into one of the little neighborhoods.

Totally Corey

I love that even though I don't get to go places with Corey and her friends, I can still get pictures of what they're doing by stealing them off her friends' Facebook posts :) Here are pictures of Corey and her friends this past Monday. Before their parade in Ballard they got to spend some time in Seattle Center just hanging out and doing whatever they wanted. So a few of them went to the Experience Music Project where we went last year when Rozanne & her family were here. I really liked their science fiction area and it looks like the girls did, too, because most of the pics are from there. Enjoy!

I remember we took pics at this same sculpture last year.

Award

We saw Gabby receive another PAWS award at school today. The theme this month was "Compassionate". Mrs Hayes/Hawthorne awarded her for "always pitching in to help whenever she sees a need". That sounds more like a "helpful" award, but ok.........we're still proud of her!

More Video

I wish I hadn't have zoomed in so much because it became kind of blurry....oh well, it's hard to tell how it looks on that tiny screen....Corey is on the far left in the front. The band sounds great though. Just a side note, Corey told me their Color Guard placed 2nd in the Bremerton parade and 1st in the Port Townsend parade on Saturday. Way to go!

Color Guard at MTS

Yes, more Color Guard photos! Today the TMS marching band came to MTS to demonstrate their mad skills....they were awesome and the kids were really excited to watch them. I managed to get some video this time of Corey (sorry it's not great as I didn't realize I was standing where they would be going, so I was backing up as I took this).

This was taken at the Tumwater Holiday Festival 12/8/07 at the local fire station. Corey is in the top row in a Santa hat and Gabby is in the middle row right in the middle. It was fun to listen to all the kids sing Christmas carols. We are sad that their school has stopped participating in this fun activity.

A totem pole! This was taken on the first day of school 9/5/07. Corey was going into 6th grade and Gabby into 3rd. Scott can't see over Corey's head anymore :)

This photo of Scott, the girls & Winston was taken at Tumwater Falls park in July, 2007. Scott had this photo as the background on his laptop when he worked at Restoration Hardware. People would ask where it was taken and were surprised to find out that it was just a few short miles from our house.

Bremerton Armed Forces Day Parade

This morning we journeyed to Bremerton for the Armed Forces Day Parade. It was a lot of fun (though a bit long at 3 hrs!). We barely got to see Corey but it looked like she was having a great time. The weather was very nice, sunny but not too hot. We took tons of pictures. I tried to narrow it down to the best ones....sorry there are so many!

Here is Corey in her uniform. She had to be completely dressed & at school by 6:30 this morning for inspection. So much for sleeping in on a Saturday :)
The back side.
We got Gabby a patriotic lei.
Spectators.

The mayor of Bremerton.

It seems Gabby is in nearly all the pictures. We had a great spot to watch the parade until people started standing to our left. So we had her stand to keep watch out for Corey.

Here they come!
There is Corey in the front on the far left.

Always smiling.........

I think that is her friend Hannah in the front right.

That poor lady in the red ended up getting knocked over by the horse when a dog started barking and startled him. Luckily she was ok.

A Chorus Line

Scott and I bought a season pass to the 5th Avenue Theater for the 2026-2027 season, which will consist of 5 shows.  Our first show was A Ch...
