Weekend Getaway to Friday Harbor

This past weekend Gabby and Ethan took the ferry over and stayed two nights in Friday Harbor.  They fit in so many fun adventures. Here are some pictures and the write up she sent me.

“On Saturday we went to Cattle Point lighthouse and watched the sunrise. We saw some seals and cool birds of prey. Afterwards we had breakfast at Rocky Bay Cafe. We took a quick nap and then did some more walking at American Camp, which is part of San Juan National Historical Park. We went down to the beach and saw some bunnies. Then we got lunch at a deli in town and browsed in some stores before checking into our Airbnb aka The Bungalow. It was on a farm with honeybees, chickens, sheep, and a pony. We took another nap, had dinner, and then went to sleep. We had been up since midnight so lots of naps!! Oh, and we did the Whale Museum on Saturday and the farmer's market. too!

On Sunday we went to Lime Kiln Point State Park and did some hiking. We saw bald eagles and turkey vultures, but no whales. There was another lighthouse here. Then we did a quick stop at English Camp, which was the other half of San Juan National Historical Park, before getting lunch in Roche Harbor. We stopped back in town to look in more shops before heading home to nap. Then out to dinner at Downrigger's, which was right on the water by the ferry terminal.”

They took the first ferry over to the island which left super early.

Walk at Discovery Park

Scott and I headed up to Discovery Park in Seattle yesterday morning to walk with his friend Rob. The weekend forecast was for lots of rain so we were pleasantly surprised to have sun and temperatures in the 50’s. It is a beautiful park with lots of different trails and views of the water and the Olympics.  We didn’t get to walk down to the lighthouse so we will have to come back.  Afterwards we met up with Gabby at her apartment then walked to a nearby restaurant for a yummy lunch. It was great to see her!
