Murhut Falls

Today we travelled to the Olympic National Forest to do a very short (only 1.6 miles round trip) hike to Murhut Falls.  It was definitely worth the long drive to view the tiered falls.  It was a bit more crowded than we had expected.  In fact, we ran into my friend and fellow Yoh! member Kassia & her husband Jesse at the trail head.  Talk about small world!

Scott, Susan & Corey at the trail head.

They had a registration book near the trail head.  Not sure if they have a lot of people who don't make it out?

First peek-a-boo view of the falls further down.

Lots of going up on this hike.

Jesse & Kassia

We stopped to take a picture of the beautiful Duckabush River on the way home.  The water was very blue & clear.

Further down there was a little area where you could walk down to the river.

Pt Defiance YRE

What a gorgeous day it was today!  Wow!  It felt more like summer than spring.  I think we actually hit the mid to high 70's which is very unusual for April.  Jen & I got to enjoy it by walking a 10k around Pt. Defiance Park in Tacoma.  In all it took us about 2 hours.  We saw many people out walking their dogs, running & biking.  Us Washingtonians know that the good weather is usually fleeting around here and so take advantage of it while we can.

We parked up by the go-carts & walked down to the water to the start point.  Here you can see a ferry heading into the dock.

There's Jen!  I didn't do a very good job of getting her picture.  This was the only one with her in it.

This was the start point for the YRE.  You have to go in, self-register & get the map of the route.  Then when you're done you come back & stamp your Volksmarch distance book.

We passed by the Japanese gardens, but didn't actually get to walk through it.  Thought this was cool so took a picture.  It is a 10 inch shell from the U.S.S. Maine.

It's spring!  Some of the cherry trees are starting to bloom.

We walked by Ft. Nisqually.  Unfortunately the sun was right behind it so it was hard to get a clear picture

The Olympic Mountains were very visible today.

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

Map of the area where we walked.

Owen Beach.  It was hard to believe, but we actually saw people laying out in their swimsuits.  Way too cold to actually go in the water, though.

Tulip Festival (Part II)

Gabby took some amazing photos....enjoy!

This looks more like a rose than a tulip!

I thought the fringed edges on this one were quite unique.

Scott & Gabby stopped for a snack break & ended up getting the Eclair Funnel Cake.

Here it is...wow!  It was soooooo good.

Not tulips, but still pretty.

Scott was trying to keep me out of the photo!

It was cool how they planted some tulips onto the tree's branches.

A Chorus Line

Scott and I bought a season pass to the 5th Avenue Theater for the 2026-2027 season, which will consist of 5 shows.  Our first show was A Ch...
