We had 4 Rainiers games this past week against the Round Rock Express but only ended up attending three after giving our Thursday night tickets to our neighbor. We attended games on Wednesday & Friday nights and Sunday afternoon. We saw our second grand slam of the season on Wednesday night when they came back from being down by 3 runs at the bottom of the 5th inning and ended up winning 11-6. The Rainiers had a great week, winning all their games except for Sunday's. Now we have a bit of a break before our next set of games.

Weekend in Spokane
Scott, Corey, Terrell, Nova and I drove over to Spokane this past weekend. Scott & I left on Thursday evening after work while they drove over really early Friday morning. They had a conference on Saturday, so we decided to come along and help Gamma watch Nova for the day. The weekend flew by. We ate out, did some shopping, went to a BBQ at Kym's house, visited with family, and Nova got to play in the splash pad a couple of times. The puppies came along, too, although they weren't quite as happy due to the long car rides, but Harvey did much better with the meds we bought to help with his car sickness. They also enjoyed running around in Gamma's back yard and her luscious green grass. It was a fun visit! We didn't take any photos, but Corey did take a few.

Beach Day
We've been talking about taking the dogs to the beach for years now, and yesterday we finally did it! The biggest factor for the delay was because they both dislike car rides. Harvey still gets car sick (although the throwing up has stopped thank goodness) and Rosie just sits there all sad like she's being tortured. We bought some calming meds recommended by the owner of our favorite pet store and thought we'd give it a go. They didn't completely relax the dogs, but Harvey definitely whined and panted less, which was a big improvement.
The day was lovely-blue skies and temps in the low 60's, which was a far cry better than the 90+ degrees we came home to in the afternoon. We headed out fairly early, a little after 7:30am and managed to miss the morning rush hour. Corey, Terrell & Nova also left around the same time, and we met them at Westport Light State Park. After some much needed restroom breaks, we headed straight to the beach. The tide was way out, and we had to walk quite far to get to the water. The dogs splashed around in the little pools in the sand, but neither of them went into the waves. We let Rosie off leash for a little bit, but she was so excited she kept running away to greet other people and wouldn't listen to us when we called her. So, she had to go back onto the leash which made her sad. Nova had a great time digging in the sand with her little scoop and shovel. We were so surprised she went into the little pools as the water was pretty cold, but it didn't seem to bother her at all.
While Nova played in the sand, Scott & I walked the dogs down the beach in search of some white pebbles for the dry riverbed in our yard. Afterward we went into town to look for some food. We ended up eating at Bennett's Fish Shack which had some vegetarian options as well as outdoor seating so the dogs could hang out with us while we ate. The food was really good, and Nova chowed down on her cheese quesadilla and French fries. After eating we stopped into the local shops for some donuts, chocolates and saltwater taffy. Nova also got a pretty bracelet. We walked down to the end of the pier searching for some sea lions, but none were around. We did see a seal swimming near the boats.
Overall, it was a fun day even with the dogs. Next time, we'll probably leave them at home so it's less stressful for them and us. Hopefully we can make this into a yearly event.
