Clue-The Musical

Scott & I attended Evergreen Playhouse's performance of Clue: The Musical today down in Centralia. For just a small local theater company, they did a pretty good job.  Neither Scott nor I solved the mystery of who done it, where and with what!  I only figured out one of those & Scott got two.  It was a fun way to spend the afternoon.  We hope to go back & see another performance sometime in the future.

Historical Marker #10-Claquato

We made a quick stop by historical marker #10-Claquato, just a couple miles west of Chehalis today.  Fun to learn a bit about the local history.  This makes #4 of 52 markers we need to find.

Snoqualmie Falls

On our way back from the volksmarch in Carnation we stopped to see Snoqualmie Falls.  The beautiful weather brought out tons of people and it took us a while to find parking, but the patience paid off.  The falls were not huge (we expected it to be higher with the torrential rains we had last week) but they were still very beautiful.  We hiked the half mile trail down to the river & back.  A half mile might not sound like much, but I think it was a surprise to many folks who thought it would be no big deal as they tromped up and down in ballet flats & high heeled boots.  Glad I had my tennis shoes on!  We did encounter some mud & parts of the trail were very steep.  We enjoyed the view of the falls from the platform as much as we could with all the people there.   We want to come back one of these days in the spring to see the falls a bit fuller & the crowds a bit smaller.  Definitely was worth going to, though.

Carnation Volksmarch (#12)

Today we participated in our 12th volksmarch of the year at Remlinger Farms in Carnation.  It was also our 100th event overall since we started volksmarching way back in June of 2009.  We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day!  It was sunny & warm...very unusual for this late in October.  We completed the 5k route and enjoyed beautiful surroundings & amazing fall colors.  It was definitely a great way to celebrate 100 volksmarches!

Corey Update

It's hard to believe that Corey is down to just 6 more weeks abroad! Time sure has flown by.  This week she had a break from classes and was able to do some island hopping.  She also met up with her grandma Sherry and her cousin Connor who were in the Galapagos for the week.  She said they've had lots of fun; today they went snorkeling & saw lots of sea turtles and fish.

Corey's Galapagos host family calls her Corina.  This is the cake she got her for birthday celebration.

Birthday celebration.

It was a joint birthday celebration with the host daughter Karen.

A bit late, but she finally got her VISA approved.

So many turtles!

These Iguanas really creep me out!

That tortoise looks huge! But Corey said she was standing pretty far back so it's actually smaller than it appears.

Preacher's Slough Hike (#16)

The weather was gorgeous today so we decided to do a close-in hike after work.  I found the Preacher's Slough trail after a little research on the Internet.  It didn't get great ratings, but it is fairly close (just 4 miles south of Montesano) so we decided to give it a try.  The trail is 7 miles total out and back, but we only did between 2.5 and 3 miles.  The first half mile had interpretive signs which was interesting.  The trail is very straight because it is where railroad tracks once stood.  Didn't see great views of the slough except for a couple of spots.  With no elevation gain at all I would consider it more of a nature walk then a hike.  We could tell it's not a well used trail because we walked through a ton of spider webs; also, there were only two other cars in the parking lot, and one car had people sitting inside watching a movie on a tablet.  Not quite sure what that was about, but it was a bit sketchy.  Glad that we went to check it out, but definitely not one we would return to.

A Chorus Line

Scott and I bought a season pass to the 5th Avenue Theater for the 2026-2027 season, which will consist of 5 shows.  Our first show was A Ch...
