Maddox Maverick Ware

Baby Maddox made his grand debut at 5:57 am on Friday, November 21st weighing in at 5 pounds 14 ounces and 18 inches long.  Corey started having contractions late Wednesday night. They dropped Nova off at our house at 1:30 on Thursday afternoon as Corey had her regular OB appointment that day at 2:30. She was hoping they would tell her she was ready to go to the hospital, but she was only at 1 cm and 50% effaced. They stripped her membranes in hopes of progressing labor.  The contractions became pretty consistent, so they headed to the hospital at 9pm that night, but when they checked her, Corey had only progressed to 2.5 cm and 75% effaced so they didn't end up admitting her. They suggested she walk around the hospital for a couple hours then would be checked again. Around midnight Corey was finally admitted and around 2am she got a much-needed epidural.  Unfortunately, after that she stalled at 4cm and the baby's heart rate kept dropping, so she ended up having to have another C-section. This time she had to go completely under because the epidural was not enough.  Luckily the surgery went well, and the recovery has been good.  They stayed in the hospital for two days, coming home on Sunday around 4pm.  Maddox had his first check up this morning and he's already back to his birth weight and has grown a whole inch!  He is a good eater!  They are all adjusting to becoming a family of four.  Nova is loving her little brother who she calls "Choo-choo".  Welcome to the world little Maddox!

So much hair! Corey had a lot of heartburn during her pregnancy so now we know why!

Hike at Banner Forest

I took this past Monday off work to extend my weekend since we were off on Tuesday for Veteran's Day and ended up doing a hike with my friend Teresa at Banner Forest near Port Orchard. Scott & I last hiked here with the puppies on New Years Day in 2024, so it's been a while.  We took the same route which came in at 3.18 miles. It has been super rainy, so the ground was quite wet & muddy.  I'm glad I didn't bring the dogs, or they would have been coated in mud. Although it was raining in Tacoma, it was dry for the hike which was awesome.  We didn't encounter too many people, but we did see tons of mushrooms.  It was great to spend some time outside and visit with Teresa.

October Happenings

Wow! How is it the middle of November already? I've been remiss about posting the October events that happened. Luckily Corey took pictures and sent me a couple write ups. Nova really enjoyed the Halloween activities, and she was a cute Pooh Bear in her costume.

October 25th - Harvest Fest at the STAR Center

We found out about this free event at one of the local community centers and decided to check it out! The weather was dreadful, and the center ended up losing power, so the event started late but we still had fun! Luckily the power came back on and there were a ton of inflatable games and a huge slide that Nova loved! We also got to decorate pumpkins and color Halloween pictures. The event was way more packed than I was expecting, and it was fun to see everyone’s costumes. Surprisingly there was only one other Pooh Bear! It was a fun event, and we might try to go again next year!

October 31st - Halloween

Halloween was a dark and stormy night this year! But we still braved the storm with Gramps and Mimi to do some trick or treating. Nova absolutely loved it and quickly caught on to the concept. She was running from house to house yelling “more candy”. We ended up going to a lot more houses than I was expecting because Nova was having so much fun despite the weather. Her costume was a big hit and lots of people commented on how cute her Pooh Bear was. Glad we made it out this year!

Terrell was Shaggy and Corey was Scooby Doo again this year.

So much rain!

With her haul!

These two photos were from a recent Toddler Hike that Corey & Nova did through Parks Tacoma at Pt. Defiance.
