Rainiers Game

Scott, Gabby & I watched the Tacoma Rainiers play against the Las Vegas 51s  today at Cheney Stadium.  (Corey was on her way up to Guard Camp with a friend)  The weather was gorgeous, but hot.  Luckily about an hour into the game our seats became shaded, which made it much more bearable.  Unfortunately they didn't win, but we still had a good time cheering them on.

There is Rhubarb on the field tossing up t-shirts using a sling shot.

Afterwards we stopped for dinner at McNamara's in DuPont.  Their tator tots are so good!

Flaming Geyser State Park

Today we decided to explore Flaming Geyser State Park, right off highway 18 in Auburn.  We've driven by the sign for this park many times on our way to the East side of the state.  The reviews we've read have been mixed, so we weren't sure what to expect.  The park itself is very nice.  It has a play area and access to the Green River. The actual "flaming" geyser was pretty minuscule.  It used to be 15 feet high per the sign next to it, but now is only about 6 inches high.  We traversed a very unsteady "bridge" (more like a pile of logs) to see the Bubbling geyser.  That, too, was a bit disappointing.  We saw no bubbling, only the grey residue which is caused by the leakage of methane into the creek.

Still, we did walk along the river and enjoyed some time outside in the beautiful weather.  There was an interpretive trail about the salmon that come to spawn in that area.  I'm sure it's pretty neat to come here in the fall & see the salmon come back to spawn.  Well, now we can cross this state park off our list.

Some excited faces!

The geyser.  If you look closely that orange area in the middle is the flame.  It was hard to photograph because it was so bright outside.

So many self portraits...there are Corey & Scott in the background reading about the history of the geyser.

Extremely precarious creek crossing.

The grey residue from the methane.
Winston did well with the crossing.  This was on the way back.

More self portraits.

Obligatory tree hugger photo.

Obligatory bridge photo.

Afterwards we had a late lunch at the Dairy Freeze in Sumner.  Always yummy!

Father's Day 2013

It was a nice & low key Father's Day this year.  We slept in, ate breakfast, then headed to University Place for a car show at a Pet Cemetery of all places.  Still, there were some cool cars, and Winston got to go, too.  Afterwards we went to Chambers Bay since it was literally right next door and spent some time outdoors just soaking in the sun.  We did walk around a little bit, but since my legs are still pretty sore from yesterday's hike, we didn't do the entire 3 mile loop.  Winston was happy about that.  He had fun chasing the girls around in the grass and being the subject in many of my pictures.  On the way home we stopped for a dozen Heavenly Donuts...a must have on Father's Day!

I told Gabby this is the car for her since it matched her shirt.

Someone put talking gangsters in this car.

At Chambers Bay

This was new...we saw that people are starting to hang padlocks onto the end of the bridge.  Some were declarations of love.  One asked us to follow them on Twitter...which I thought was a bit strange.

Gabby showing us some of her dance moves.

The more tired he is, the longer his tongue gets.

A Chorus Line

Scott and I bought a season pass to the 5th Avenue Theater for the 2026-2027 season, which will consist of 5 shows.  Our first show was A Ch...
