Walk Across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge

Not quite sure what compelled us to spend the afternoon walking across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, but we did it!  The sun was shining, but the wind was brisk and cold, so we didn't linger.  We started at the War Memorial Park then walked down to the bridge, across and back which totaled 4.6 miles roundtrip.  It was a bit hillier than I expected, but that was good because we are out of shape!  Let's hope we are in better shape by the end of 2019 :)

We actually walked on the "new" Narrows bridge built in 2007; the green bridge is the second Narrows Bridge built in 1950 to replace the original bridge which failed in 1940.  The main span is 2800 feet making it the 5th longest suspension bridge in the United States.

Girls at Humboldt

A bit late, but here are some pictures of the adventures the girls got up to when Corey was down visiting Gabby at Humboldt earlier this month.  Gabby took Corey to a lot of the local places; they also went hiking at Trinidad Head and to a chocolate tour.  Corey was able to watch Gabby dance at the end of semester performance as well as in Nutcracker with her local dance studio.  Now they are off on another adventure...this time down in Portland where Gabby will be taking a dance intensive with NW Dance Project.  I'm sure they will have a great time.

Looks a bit windy up at the top of Trinidad Head.

Annual Christmas Trip to Seattle

We usually try to get up to Seattle a bit earlier in December, but since the girls just got back, we didn't have a chance to get up there until today.  It was pouring rain on the way up and the way down, but, luckily, our time in Seattle was dry!  So much nicer to walk around when it's not raining!  We took the light link rail up from Angle Lake Station, which is a nice little ride and we didn't have to worry about finding parking.  We went straight to the Sheraton to view the Gingerbread Village, which we were expecting to be busy as it's the last weekend before Christmas, but it was insane!  I think we waited for over two hours to finally view them!  The theme this year was Whoville, which we were a bit disappointed in as it didn't allow for a lot of diversity.  They still did a great job, and I'm glad we (finally) got to see them.  Afterwards we were starving, so we headed over to Westlake Center for our traditional Chinese food lunch at P.F. Chang's....so good!  We also stopped at a candy shop and filled up on gummies & truffles.  Our last stop was, of course, Top Pot Donuts.  It was another successful holiday adventure!
