P.A.W.S. to Read

Today when we went to the library, we didn't realize that the P.A.W.S. to Read event was going on. Luckily Gabby was able to participate by reading a book to one of the dogs there. The event was put on by the Delta Society's Pet Partners program which trains volunteers and their pets for visiting animal programs in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, schools and other facilities. Today they were at the library encouraging kids to read by having them read to the dogs. Gabby got to read to Emma, a 10 yr old Newfoundland. She was a very nice dog and she made such a huge impression on the girls. Corey said that when she has kids she wants to buy them a Newfoundland. It was a neat experience for all of us to learn more about the program and Emma. Luckily I had my phone handy to take a couple of pictures.

Gabby & Emma-she was so sweet.

We wanted Quincy to train to do that...I started it, but you have to get your dog to the point that he won't tug on your leash. That is when I knew it wasn't going to happen. Emma was pretty.

Maybe it's time for you to get another dog? Winston needs some companionship. How about a newfoundland? Glad the girls had a good time. We went to some friend's for dinner the other night and they had a dog. It was growling at Alex. It scared Alex and he jumped pretty good. Dogs can smell fear. It's funny that he chose Alex to growl at...the only one of us who is really afraid of dogs.

No more dogs for us! It's funny how dogs are so aware of people being afraid of them. Both of my girls love dogs. Although Corey is a little more hesitant of large dogs now after she was bit that one time.
