Hiking at Wynoochee

Today Scott, Corey & I went hiking in the Lake Wynoochee recreation area,  approximately 30 miles north of Montesano.  We were pleasantly surprised to find that the 20 mile gravel road everyone warned us about had been paved, which made the long drive way shorter time-wise.  We stopped first to check out the Wynoochee Dam, then headed to Maidenhair Falls and Wynoochee Falls.  Both were at the end of short trails with very little elevation gain.  We saw some pretty foliage and a few banana slugs.  Both falls were beautiful!  Afterwards, we stopped by the Wynoochee Lake day-use area, which had a nice swimming beach by the dam.  We will have to try to come back when it's a little warmer so we can get into the water.

We were forewarned that the sign to Maidenhair Falls was not that helpful.

So many big clovers!

We saw some really large old-growth trees

This is the bridge from which to view Maidenhair Falls.

Corey & Scott climbed down a bit to give some perspective on the size of the falls.

Pretty views from a bridge we crossed over.

The water was crystal clear!

Just a beautiful waterfall we passed by on the road.  There was no sign, so not sure if it has a name.

Another hiker offered to take our picture.

Pretty flowers on the trail.
