When we lived in Tumwater, we used to volunteer at the food bank packing bags of food for kids to take home on the weekends. It was something that our office was involved in, and we had a pretty good core group of people who would do it once a month. A few times the kids joined us when they were free from activities. Not quite sure when, but our office stopped participating and we had moved north anyhow. But last month my coworker Lisa sent me a photo of herself and her daughter packing bags and told me they were up and running again. So last night Scott & I headed down to our old stomping grounds and volunteered once more. It was so fun to see our old friends, their families, and some new coworkers as well. We were amazed at how much some of the kids had grown! The last time we volunteered they were in elementary school; now they are all in high school and driving! Time just goes by so fast! Here are some photos they took last night. Even though it's a bit of a drive, Scott & I hope to make this a monthly event going forward.
