Our trip to New Zealand was truly awesome! We did and saw so many cool things and the food was AMAZING! I'm still dreaming about that lemon sorbet I had 3 TIMES in Auckland! It was great to see Gabby and we are missing her more now. Can't wait until she comes back in August. Until then she's doing an internship at Footnote Dance in Wellington. She has an apartment that she is sharing with a flat mate who we got to meet when we dropped off some of her stuff. So far the job hunting is not going great just because no one seems to want to hire her for such a short time, but she will be taking some dog watching/walking gigs to make some extra cash.
We left Washington on Wednesday, February 12th and flew to Hawaii, where we stayed one night before flying out on Thursday. We arrived into Auckland late Friday night the 14th (we lost a whole day!). We only spent a day there then headed down to Queenstown where we met up with Gabby (she drove over there after she finished her stint at the seaside bed & breakfast). Our trip from there to Milford Sound was cancelled because the road had been washed out by recent rains. But that was ok, we still found lots of fun things to do there. Then we were off to Christchurch for a couple of days before taking the train (where I left my BRAND NEW COAT onboard-sigh) and ferry over to Wellington. We spent several days in Wellington then we flew back to Auckland for a few more days. We flew back to Honolulu on the evening of the 26th and arrived the morning of the 26th (we gained our day back!) and spent two days there before coming back to Washington on the 28th. It was a whirlwind and so much fun!
