Don't let the name fool you, we had a great time at Cape Disappointment today for our first Connors family adventure of 2014. The temperature was only in the 40's, but the sun was out in all its glory. After a long 2+ hour drive down to the state park, we visited the North Head lighthouse before hiking a short, but very hilly, trail to the Cape Disappointment lighthouse on the southern tip of the peninsula. We enjoyed some amazing & gorgeous views of the Columbia River as it entered the Pacific Ocean. Afterwards we stopped for a quick photo shoot on Benson Beach before heading back home. It was a lot of fun!

| The North Head Lighthouse was put into service on May 16, 1898. It is the windiest lighthouse on the West Coast and the second windiest in the nation. Winds of 120 mph have been recorded here. |
