To shake things up a bit today we went to Seaworld in San Diego. It was about a 90 minute trip there. The traffic was horrendous and everyone drives so fast! I'm glad Scott was driving and not me because I don't think I could drive next to all those maniacs! You can tell the people down here have a lot of $$ because we saw tons of Range Rovers, Mercedes, BMWs and Mercedes cars everywhere. I guess the recession has not hit this far south of California.
The weather was so beautiful-sunny the whole day. We even had to put sunscreen on! Seaworld was awesome but only had limited hours this time of year. It was open from 10am to 5pm. We were there the whole time. The first thing we did was ride the "Wild Arctic" adventure ride-BIG MISTAKE. The kids loved it, but Scott & I both got nauseous. Then we saw the dolphin show which was very cool. The kids sat in the "Soak Zone" and got pretty wet. Scott and I sat a little further up but still got our legs splashed. Then we went to see the manatees. Gabby was so happy! There were 3 of them that had been rescued from Florida. They were really fat and very cute. We saw the Shamu show which was kind of sappy and the sea lion show which was really funny even though it had a creepy mime in it. We got to pet the sting rays. There were a few really big ones. Their wings felt very slippery and rubbery but also very muscular. The girls got to feed and pet the dolphins. They felt different than I had expected-their skin was very hard.
We ended our day by having dinner at the Corvette Diner in downtown San Diego. We found it on the Internet and it looked like a cool place. We all agreed it's a must for anyone going to San Diego. The waitress, Scarlet, was really fun. They throw straws and Bazooka gum at you. There was a DJ who played requested songs. They played the Chicken Dance and quite a few people got up and danced. A guy came by and made balloon animals for the girls. The food was also delicious and they gave you tons. If you ever get to San Diego, you need to go! By the time we got home we were all exhausted.
